Doc Rivers fined $25k – thanks Bill!

by beezer on March 19, 2009

Doc Rivers was fined $25,000 for critisizng the officiating in Tuesday nights Celtics/Bulls game.  Doc got his second technical foul with under 30 seconds to play in the game and was ejected, courtesy of Bill Kennedy.  The foul helped the Bulls extend thier lead to 5 over the Celtics.

Doc was pissed about being tossed and giving up free points and ripped the refs after the game.

“The technical on which I got thrown out was the most unprofessional technical by a ref I have ever had,” Rivers told reporters following the game. “He stood there and goaded me and goaded me and stared at me.”

If you look at the tape, Doc may have a point.  I’m not sure there was anything there that was worthy of a technical.

Bill Kennedy was fined an undisclosed amount by the NBA for the incident.  At least the league acknowledged that Kennedy did something wrong.

I’m glad others are actually covering this story. We all know sites like nba.com and espn surely won’t.
