Nies irks Van Gundy

Jack Nies seems to have pissed off Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy.

Tuesday night, with 30 seconds left in the Cavs-Magic game, Nies called Dwight Howard for a 3 second violation.  This was only after the ENTIRE Cavs bench was screaming for Nies to make the call with Howard planted in the lane.  Afterwards, Van Gundy was none to pleased saying, “You won’t see that call again. That, I guarantee you.  You will not see, with the game on the line, a 3-second call in the last 10 seconds. That’s part of the reason they’re 30-1 at home. They’re a very good team, and when you get calls like that (expletive), you’re in pretty good shape.”

I can’t say that I blame him.  I know that home teams get more calls since refs seem to be influenced by by the crowd.  But a 3 second violation with 30 seconds left in the game?  Seems like a cheap call to me.
