Old people shouldn’t be referees

Dick Bavetta is too old to be a referee.  When you have to wheel your colostomy bag down the court with you, it may be time to retire.  Anyone who watched last nights Bobcats-Celtics game would agree.

Now, I know that the Celtics won a championship last year by playing phenomenal defense, but last night was ridiculous.  The Bobcats only made it to the free throw line 7 times in 58 minutes.  SEVEN!!! At some point the officiating has to be a factor.  And it was – big time.

Bavetta and his crew missed all kinds of calls as the Celtics were basically tackling the Bobcats every trip down the floor.  And it’s hard to score points when you are being dragged down from behind by defenders.

An old man like Bavetta simply doesn’t belong in the NBA as a referee.  He’s either missing calls because of poor eyesight or because of diminished mental capacity.  Either way, he needs to go.
