Three referees retiring at end of season

Looks like the NBA officials could get better by attrition.

Referees Jim Clark, Luis Grillo and Jack Nies have announced that they will retire at the end of the season.  Combined, the 3 have officiated 73 seasons.

“The NBRA and the NBA are losing three great officials,” said Lamell McMorris, spokesman for the NBRA. “They have served the basketball community graciously over their careers and we wish them the all the best.”

I don’t know about losing 3 “great” officials.  The key will be getting 3 new officials in who understand the rules and don’t try to impose their will or agenda on the game.  It would also be nice if they would not be swayed by home crowds.  I’ll keep holding out hope, but I don’t expect much.
