Former Referee Ron Olesiak

by beezer on November 11, 2009

I like to point out how terrible officiating is in the NBA.  But every now and then, I like to point out good things that the officials do.

Here’s a pretty good article on recently retired referee, Ron Olesiak.  Sounds like a pretty neat guy.

Beezer, you glossed over an important chapter in Ron Olesiak’s life, that being perhaps the best all-around softball player of his era in Chicago and suburbs. Along with Jake Jacobi (the game’s finest hitter) and Benny Holt (the game’s premier home-run hitter), Ron was recognized as a superior hitter, fielder and competitor. It was my pleasure to play against him on numerous occasions in the 1970′s. He was inducted into the 16″ softball Hall of Fame for his stellar play.
