Jason Phillips

Jason Phillips was born April 10, 1970 and is currently an NBA referee.  He has officiated 380+ regular season games.  Prior to becoming an NBA referee, Phillips worked as a loan officer for Authority Lending.  It is widely believed by many in Congress that his decision making as a loan officer that caused the financial market crash in 2008.  It is this same decision making that attracted the NBA to Jason.

I wateched the Warriors-Nuggets game. I have watched ten news reporters talk about the end of this game. I want to support Referee
honesty. Can youy please apologize or speak up?

This is very upsetting.

I’ve just watched game 2 of the 2014 NBA Finals. There are lots of complaints about NBA referees. It makes sense that there are a lot of complaints, but I didn’t realize there were so many. Some of them are very nasty. I’ve not done this before but after watching this game I really feel compelled to look for #23 on the web. I wanted to say something directly to Jason Phillips, but I can see that is not going to happen.
I played ball up to the college level. I felt that one of the worst things a ref can do is make a call on something he didn’t see. It is the antithesis of what a ref is suppose to be doing on the floor. I would expect this at a small league level, but never in the NBA. This is what Jason did in this game. Some players like to fake things. A ref that bites on these fake reactions is a bad ref. To me, really bad.
It’s not just a ref making a bad call, it’s a ref being a sucker. He let a mind game affect him. And all you’ve got to do is call what you see. It’s an easy remedy.
It’s pitiful to see a ref treat a player with disdain. We all know that the players complain a lot. Too much. But for a ref to just plain disdain a player talking to him is not poor refereeing. It’s a poor human response. I saw Jason Phillips do this quite a few times in game 2.
Jason Phillips has driven me to write about this, but it’s not just been Jason. These playoffs have been having a lot of poor referee decisions.
My opinion is not driven by a team preference. I like the Lakers and they haven’t been around this year to root for. So my opinion is coming as a basketball fan. I hate to see this game going the way that these referees are taking it.
I don’t remember it like this during Magic’s years or during West’s years. Wow, the refs are making this league into something poor.
Not good.
